"The yarn forms the stitches,
the knitting forges the
friendships, the craft links the generations."

After 33 years of teaching and being a school library media specialist, I retired from the Warren County School District to take care of my 90 year old father.  My husband and I spent our first year trying to get on the same page about what retirement meant for us, only to discover that retirement was going to be different for each of us.
One  day we decided to take a look at this little turn of the century house that looked out of place in downtown Warren.  At the time it was a rental being used by the Warren Obama headquarters for the 2008 presidential election.  Oddly enough, we both had the same thought.  It should be renovated and returned back to the arts in some way.  We spent the next few weeks getting the history of the house and thinking about what exactly we could do with it.  Soon we could envision Ella Tybout sitting in the house writing  her poetry and reading her beloved books.  It is said that she was a person with a unique personality.

After a few weeks and lots of talking with friends we concluded that we had three goals.
           1.  to renovate the house and save it from being placed on the blighted home list
           2.  to provide a place for local craft artists to sell their crafts
           3.  to decide what type of mercantile Warren needed and provide it for them

Our research resulted in the fact that there was no place in Warren to purchase quality yarn and needlecraft supplies.  So we decided to have our shoppe provide those resources.  Not long after we began renovating Ginny Scott, owner of Sweet Memories candy shop, asked us if we would be interested in taking over her line of Betty Dixon candy when she retired in June.  We decided that would be a good idea.

We have been very fortunate to have had good advise from friends and the support of the community.  As of this date we have over 50 craft consigners, Plymouth yarn, Brown Sheep, Sugar'n Cream, Skacel, Queensland,DMC floss, punch needle, Brazilian embroidery, and other needlepoint supplies.  We have the Betty Dixon candy and will carry the Davidson Teas, Stonewall Kitchen items, Cooke Tavern Soups and Park Design linens.

We also have an array of craft classes available for people to take and knitting and crochet support for those people who need help with a problem spot.

I hope that you will come and visit our quaint little shop and enjoy the atmosphere as much as we do.thank you
